Foods to Consider When Your Mouth Is Numb
After certain types of dental procedures, patients end up having a numb mouth.This is the reason that many people do not enjoy going to the dentist.
Now, a numb mouth can bring with it inconvenience. It can also be embarrassing because you fail to realize that you are drooling. And it can also have impact on how and what to eat before you regain the ability to feel your mouth.

It is fact that dental anesthesia can numb your mouth but it is only a side effect. In fact, it is the anesthesia which saves you from a lot of pain and discomfort during and after the treatment. Typically, the injections are used for administering anesthesia. These injections are of two types.

- Another type of injections is the Infiltration injection. This injection numbs a small portion. Typically, it is used when the small area around a tooth needs to be numbed.
Now, you may be terrified with the idea of needle touching your gum tissues. But the good news is that dentist will apply a numbing gel to the area before touching the needle to it.Now, this procedure makes the entire dental treatment quite comfortable for you. But the major downside of this numbing is that your mouth is going to stay numbed for several hours after the treatment.
Things you can eat till the numbing lasts
Chewing and moving your jaws with a numbed mouth is going to be very difficult. In this scenario, it is very difficult to eat foods that are chewing or hard. In this scenario, you can eat the following foods:
- Soup
- Mashed potatoes
- Smoothies
- Applesauce
- Oatmeal
- Sherbet
- Soft cheese
- Cooked butternut squash
- Hummus
- Bananas
- Scrambled eggs
Make sure that you are not consuming alcohol because it can be highly reactive to the anesthesia. As a general tip, you need to avoid consuming alcohol completely because can be the very reason for the need of serious dental works.
While you are consuming soft foods, you still need to be careful while chewing because the you might injure your mouth due to the lack of sensation.
