Well, vaping is a lot like smoking, except you’re inhaling from a small cylinder a bit of chemical, flavors, and it does have a heating element that will turn the liquid to steam.  Vaping or even e-cigarettes are a healthy alternatives to cigarettes, and many are used to help break free from addiction.

Now, for those who just enjoy doing it, or those who are trying to get off of cigarettes, you may wonder whether or not they’re safer.

The answer is no, it’s not really any safer. That is because all of these contain nicotine, so while stopping the habit causes withdrawal symptoms similar to quitting cigarettes, it can be dangerous to your health. Many think that it’s safer to vape than smoke cause of the steam, but there are carcinogens in both.  Just as second-hand smoke is dangerous to others, the vapor from the e-cigarettes are shown to have worsened the air quality of a room, and mainly by introducing nicotine and other chemicals into the atmosphere. Exposure is dangerous for small children. This is why the FDA doesn’t encourage that you should have these if you’re a child or teen, since this can be harmful to the brain, and teenagers shouldn’t be having nicotine or nicotine products period, that’s for sure.

There is also the fact that oral cancer is on the rise, and the danger is real with both of these. People die every year from the use of e-cigarettes, so if you notice sores that don’t heal, red or white patches on the skin or mouth, a persistent sore throat or hoarseness, or numbness or swelling of the lips and mouth, you should seek out a doctor immediately. The best prevention though wouldn’t be to use e-cigarettes at all, but if you need t, do consult your doctor before you continue and make sure that you do get oral cancer screenings. And if you are using it to quit, you should try to use smaller and smaller nicotine levels. That way, you can start to slowly cut the addiction and get rid of needing to smoke.

So, when you think about whether or not to vape, the answer is ultimately up to you. It really is for yourself whether or not you should vape, and you should be smart about what it is that you’re doing. Understand that there are dangers in all of this, and a lot of risks involved when you’re trying to make it so that you’re not harming your health. Part of the way to prevent issues is knowing what you’re getting into, and while knowing is half the battle, understand that there are dangers with these, and one isn’t better than the other, especially with nicotine.
